In a mixing bowl whisk milk, water, yeast and sugar. You can also use a stand mixer.
Add oil, egg, salt and mahlab (optional) and mix them well. Slowly add flour into the liquid mixture until the dough comes together. If it’s too wet you can add more flour but the dough should be a little sticky and soft. Don’t add too much flour. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours.
Once the dough is double in size, divide into equal sized pieces. Form them into a ball and place them in a large greased baking pan. Brush with egg wash and let them rise about half an hour additional.
Preheat the oven for 400F and bake them about 20-25 minutes until they’re lightly browned.
